Best Net Zero Initiative Award

The public sector and its supply chain will play a major role in achieving the Welsh Government’s ambition of a Net Zero Economy by 2045, and the UK Government’s target of 2050. This Award recognises those organisations that are leading the way in addressing climate change through their procurement activity and the many suppliers who also contribute to achieving success in this area.

Initiatives can cover all types of activity – for example, sustainable construction, the development of alternative fuel sources or innovations that reduce our carbon footprint in areas such as transport. The focus is on innovation, creativity and evidence of genuine progress. Examples of collaboration, for example with communities, industry, academia or other institutions and bodies associated with the climate change agenda, are welcomed.

Open to: Welsh public sector organisations and private/voluntary organisations from within or outside Wales with documented support from a sponsoring authority ‒ for example, a written statement with the name and position of the sponsor, either within the submission or as an attachment.

Timescale: A GO Awards submission in this category must cover activity during the period January 2021 to June 2022.
